Out of touch?

Thomas Jefferson once said that it is the American people's responsibility to revolt at least once every generation. He believed that the needs of men, or in other words the desires of the public superseded any desire of the men elected to lead them. Politicians should live in fear of their constituents, serving them knowing full well that at a whim they could have an uprising on their hands. The Second Amendment was put into place, to ensure just that those elected to govern did so properly and righteously. Today, we have become so complacent that our leaders often feel they are above the American people. Not only that, they treat those that dont agree with them as enemies (these words have been used on both sides of the political spectrum). They dont take the American people seriously. If you would, I would like you to analyze the above picture for just a second.

Does this honestly seem like a man who really cares about the American people, or just for his vain glory? He is a man that worships at the throne of Obamamania when he arises in the morning, and reacts as if somebody has butchered a starving baby every-time they criticize or disagree with him. It would be interesting to see just what would happen if this man were to stand before parliament as Prime Minister. They would have him in tears in a matter of minutes. What ever happened to our leaders being tough, decisive and classy? Lets bring back the days of Theodore Roosevelt and George Washington. What we need is a man in the White House, not a pampered baby.

American Heroes...Clara Barton

I find it often interesting that when we study women in history, that they are often depicted as either helpless saps who arent able to fend for themselves or  raging feminists bent on destroying men.  Honestly, we are taught that Susan B. Anthony hated men and that Joan of Arc was just an insane religous zealot who spoke to spirits. But when we take a look around us and see the average woman we know that this cannot at all be true and that women throughout the ages have not changed that much.  They love to nurture, care for and fix problems that often come their way (that is why the best girls end up with the worst guys, because they see it as their goal to remedy them of all their problems).  Women are not born with the "kill" gene that men often posses, but rather the gene to create and make things better.

A great example of this from America's past is a woman by the name of Clara Barton.  In fact when I started investigating the Red Cross I was not at all aware who the founder in fact was.  I expected it to be some "idealistic" do-gooder from back east, desperate to make a name for himself in the name of philanthropy.  But that person wasnt any of those things, in fact the person was a quaint New England girl who devoted her entire life to fixing people, and making them better.    As a small girl in her teens she spent hours educating small children in local elementary schools.  Because at the time education was not free, she petitioned from the Massachussetts state governement and opened the first not for profit public school in the state.  She later became instrumental in providing wounded Union soldiers with medical supplies.  Her dream however, was to organize a relief organization in the United States but was prohibited by laws at the time to function internationally.  So in 1881 so organized the American Red Cross to function within the United States. It was an immediate success and for the remainder of her life she set about helping forest fire victims, those affected by the hurricanes off the Gulf of Mexico and war veterans of the Spanish American War.

Clara is a far cry from what modern feminists imagine the "ideal woman" to be.  Being a good woman does not mean hating men and having to assert your dominion over those around you.  This would even be terrible for a man to do.  A great women is just a great person, one that thinks about others more than themselves.

American Heroes- Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain

I want you to ask yourself one question.  Off the top of your head how many Congressional Medal of Honor recepients could you name?  Three, two how about even one? It is such a shame that in our modern society we give more credance to vain media personalities than we do to our nation's heroes.  There have been almost 3,500 medal of honors awarded, but does the average American know anything about even one of these individuals? The frightening fact is that they probably dont, and as time passes and people grow more complacent and weaker, they often forget much of what our predecessors have done for us.

One of these great heroes of mine is Brigadier General Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain.  A Maine born professor, who gave up his cushy career as a professor of English and lied to his colleges so he could join the Union forces against what he considered to be "an evil aristocratic institution of slaverly, mirroring that of our European ancestors."  The man absolutely hated slaverly and believed that the United States was founded as a place where people could actually reach their full potential as individuals.  He earned Congressional Medal of Honor at Gettysburg for safely securing the Union flank against a confederate force twice his size.  Depleted of ammunition and resources, he ordered a bayonet charge and frightened the Conferdates into submission.  That was just the first of any of his heroic acts.  On another occasion, he was shot between both hips in the middle of a battle, but remained on his feet the entire time to rally his troops to move forward.  By the end of the war he had been shot six times had twice that many horses shot out from under him.  His final act of pure soldiery came at Appotamax courthouse where he accepted the surrender of General Robert E. Lee and his Confederate forces.  To many northern naysayers,  he had his men salute the defeated south and pay them respect.

What a man!  What a truly great American hero.  I encourage all who may read this to further investigate our nation's heroes.  It will give you a stronger understanding of what this country stands for and why we need to emulate those that have come before us.

Ideal Woman...Ideal Man

Before I get into the particulars of this subject I want to mention a thing or two about my beloved Fatherland.  What is it that truly makes America great?  Some will say its it tolerance, others its progressive spirit.  My beliefs for American greatness doesnt have anything to do with either of these. I believe America is great because of its natural beauty, its power and confidence, the tradition and heritage of its many peoples and above all the fact that it is free.  So how does this relate to the subject of men and women?  Lets begin.
Great men from the ages have been set apart from other men for being just that...manly.  They are individuals who, above all else make the moral decisions no matter the consequences.  They are protectors and defenders, and are never the types to take the backseat to anything.  Men should never play the victim, rather take control and be assertive.  In many ways, this is the history of our country.  We do not act victimized by others, and when in the past when we faced tyranny we faced and defeated it.  So it is as a man.
But what about women?  They should typify all the things that this great country stands for ((beauty, confidence, refinement, tradition and freedom(I will expound more on this subject)).  The reason women are great is the influence they exert on men, in other words  to refine and make them better.  In fact women do make men better.  Men act like disgusting pigs around each other, but when a woman is around that is not the case.  They should refrain from vulgarity, and crudeness because women stand against all these things, or they should.  That is why men want women in their lives, because they perfect them.  They soften them, ease them and give them a puropse for living.  Why have so many men left home in the past to fight wars? In many cases it was for the love of a woman. I was watching a Korean war film the other day and found myself in tears. It wasnt the patriotism of the movie that caused it rather the love the man had for his wife who he saw murdered before his eyes.  Men need to act like men, that is be responsible and protective. Women should be refined.  Both cause each other to be better.
Finally, is the last attribute of America that women should excude.  That is of freedom, or better yet allowing freedom to their husbands.  Im not talking about the freedom of letting him go "hang with the boys" while she stays home and takes care of the kids. Rather allowing men to be men.  I am so sick and tired of manliness being stripped from our culture.  Boys cant act like boys because when they do they are considered ADD and are pumped full of meds to calm them down.   Manliness is seen as oppressive and ignorant when in reality I can think of nothing more respectful than a prideful man putting all his arrogance to the side and offering respect to a woman.  Have you ever seen a mean bitter man completely change because of the influence of a good woman in his life?  This is proof that they make them better.  If a woman acted just like one of the guys then that is all she would be considered and the respect that men offer women shouldnt and wouldnt be offered to them. But when she enters a room and the "boys" change (in other words stop swearing, farting or harshly criticizing each other) then you know she is a true woman.
I can think of no better woman than my own mother.  She is this kind of woman. In one way she has caused me to be better is in overcoming my horrible vulgarity problem.  I could drop a string of profanity on you that would make Ludacris blush.  But when my mother is around that doesnt happen.  I want to open doors for her in public, I want to stand for her when she enters the room because I know that she has refined me, made me better (and not on God's green earth would my father have ever been able to do that).  So, men, respect women, and ladies allow men to be men and respect you and do the things that earn that respect.

Spineless America.

A strong body makes the mind strong. As to the species of exercises, I advise the gun. While this gives moderate exercise to the body, it gives boldness, enterprise and independence to the mind. Games played with the ball, and others of that nature, are too violent for the body and stamp no character on the mind. Let your gun therefore be your constant companion of your walks.        --- Thomas Jefferson to Peter Carr, 1785. The Writings of Thomas Jefferson, (Memorial Edition) Lipscomb and Bergh, editors.

What really would have happened on that fateful day of September 11th 2001 if American citizens had been well armed?  It makes sense that such an attack would have worked in New York because these people, and at no fault to themselves, have had one of their most important individual rights taken away from them and that is a right to defend themselves.  Imagine a group of Hajis decided to attack an airplane leaving Cheyanne Wyoming or even many parts of Texas.  I guarentee they would not have had such luck.
Our nation has been weakened and it is no fault of any foreign power but our own leaders in Washington who so eagerly want to strip any kind of control from the populace.
I am currently enrolled at Brigham Young University.  This is amongst the most conservative and right-leaning Universties in America.  But I am appalled to see how many of the students are not only terrified of fire-arms, they are also repulsed by the very nature of what they are.  What, the right to defend yourself has become so taboo in our culture that we cant even allow ourselves to discuss it?  They speak of guns as if one is talking about pornography or illicit drugs.
A good story will describe exactly my frustration.  Last year my girlfriend and I were at her apartment with her and her roomates and some of her roomates' guy friends (well if you could call them guys, male is hardly the word I would use to describe these emaciated twurps.  It was Halloween and we were watching the horrid film, The Grudge.  After sitting there for near an hour I started to become frustrated at how predictable and annoying much of the film was, but mostly at how this film would never have existed if the damsle in it had invested in a proper fire arm.  I let my voice be heard.  After saying that, across the couch one of her roomates' boyfriends who couldnt have weighed more than 120 looked at me and said, "what...do you own a, a GUN?"  Both my girlfriend and I looked at each other, and started to burst out in uncontrollable laughter.  She cordially looked at him and said, "Trevor, his name is Winchester, he owns plenty."  This is just an example of how some little fairy who probably wears his girlfriend's pants has no idea what it means to be an American.

Utah Walkers

Hello ladies and gents, it is such a nice day to do some bitching and today's subject is that of Utah walkers.  Now many of you may be asking, well we know alot about how terrible Utah drivers can be but this may be news for us.  I reasure all of you that this is not a joke or me just looking for something that doesnt exsist.  I am here to say that in Utah, and only in Utah, have I witnessed that people dont only drive terribly, they walk terribly as well.
Just the other day I was coming home from a hard days work of studying and day dreaming about motorcycles.  I had my ipod in stuck in both ears and was relishing the few precious moments I get detached from society.  That was all interrupted by some jo-shmo who came up behind me like a she-lion attacking a helpless baby gazelle.  If any of you have driven here you know this tactic and also you know that they often do it when there isnt another soul on the road, just you and the him.  And sure enough, it was just that.  Not another person in sight just us two.
Luckily the volume on my ipod was sufficiently turned down so I could here the approacher.  I turned and looked and to my surprise he was not more than 6 inches behind me.  He was talking on his cell phone. So, as I often do to Utah drivers, I hit my brakes.  He crashed into my back.  I turned, looked him in the eye and said, "what the hell are you doing?"  In typical fashion he acted as he didnt hear and walked away.  And to all those reading this post, this was not the only time this has happened to me.
At first this made me angry, but on the way home I realized just how fitting it was.

Michael Bay's Armageddon...proof of American Exceptionalism

Twelve years ago Micahel Bay released the world-disaster film Armageddon to fan fame and critical praise.  What a great movie folks!!!  Now I know that it was hardly based on scientific reality (honestly using the moon as a sling-shot), but that was not what made it so great.  It was the underlieing truth in this near theological perspecitive that made it worth watching. It warms my soul to still know that there are Americans out there willing to speak the truth...that we are still the greatest nation on earth.
Here are my reasons why.  Firstly, it was Americans who were saving the world.  This happens all the time. And how have we saved the world, through free-market enterprise.  This leads me to my next point.  In this highly dramatic epic of a film, we see two opposing forces; the asteroid and the Americans sent to destroy it.  In my opinion they are both simply part of a grander parody of the world in which we live.  The Asteroid represents the ideology of communism/socialsim and the Americans represent the opposit side or the concept of Capitalism.  America is a capitalist country and I am proud to know that it was capitalism that destroyed that ugly beast in the last few minutes of the film
Secondly, Americans take what the world does and we make it better.  True, Americans never invented such things as soda-pop, film, or democracy, but today what is it known for?  These things seem "American" to many people around the world, but the truth is they arent.  But its that rough get it done and get it done best spirit that has made us who we are.  In the film, there are many occasions of obnoxious Russians and helpless frenchman who cant seem to make anything work.  Thats where we come it.  Thank you for Americn inginuity!!
Finally, I find the fact that even though the world is coming to an end we dont send up our best and brightest, but a group of rough necks.  I mean we could send up a team of highly professionals but what would be fun in spoiling the fun too quickly.  We needed a challenge and we overcame one.  Oh how I am happy for American exceptionalism

My proof that society is going down the toilet

I was born in 1988, so not too long ago.  I am raised in the post generation x era.  The world would seem to someone like me to be quite exciting and trust me I believe it to be. However, I do feel that the world today is more worse off than it ever has been in any other period of history. No, not in the realm of science or mathematics. We have accomplished great feats in these areas.  My proof lies with the entertainment industry.  It has become cheapened glitter and voracious sex.  That's it and thats all people care about.  The beauty of music that once spoke to a man's heart, enlightened the mind and soothed the soul is rapidly disappearing. I grew up listening to southern rock, New England mainstream pop/folk and country western.  I tell you my friends, therein art is in its purest form. Songs about society, family and just the topic Im speaking about have captured our imaginations or even moved and shaped society.  Artists like Billy Joel, Johnny Cash, George Jones and Elvis Presley were movers and shakers. Even political figures of the day followed their messages.  They were titans of colossal status.
Today however, my generation and those proceeding me will be subject to the most abhorring and disgusting styles of music ever conceived. True talent is supplanted with image and persona revolving around violence and confusion.  Amongst these artists, and perhaps some of the very worst, are Lady Gaga and Eminem.  Eminem, a  white-trash joke from Detroit has become famous and wealthy off of rapping about killing his wife and rapping his mother. If this is not proof enough, then I dont know what else to say.  Lady Gaga, though she does not sing about these things, instead uses stylized music (often revolving around synthesized harmonics and voice overs) to produce cheap plastic CRAP.
What we need again in this country is a revolution.  Not the type we read about in history books, but one of popular culture. One in which people are moved by inspiration not just by catchy lyrics or cute costumes. It can be done, it is just on us to spread the word.

Stay true my friends, we will win!!!
